Almost all teachers’ unions are calling a strike Thursday, January 13 to protest against the school health protocol. They are supported by the first federation of parents of pupils, the FCPE.

A week after the implementation of the health protocol in schools, parents are tired. All those met by the France Televisions teams on Monday January 10 had to be absent at least once from their work to have their child tested. A real headache for many of them. “The situation is totally surreal“, describes a father. A complex protocol and a shortage of self-tests caused by a lack of preparation according to Rodrigo Arenas, representative of the Federation of Parents’ Councils (FCPE):”We have been asking for saliva tests for two years.

An observation shared by the teachers’ unions, who demand from the government massive preventive screening and class closures from the first cases of Covid-19 “to avoid contamination within the school itself“, explains Guislaine David, spokesperson for SNUipp-FSU. To protest against the current health protocol, seven unions are calling for a strike Thursday, January 13.
