Justin Attallah, 26, was arrested in Rosemère on May 31. He appeared at the Montreal courthouse on Wednesday to face charges of arson, possession of incendiary materials and possession of false identification.

On the night of April 21, Mr. Attallah, holding a can of gasoline, entered the courtyard belonging to the company Remorquage Météor located in the Saint-Michel district. The man set fire to a tow truck before fleeing on foot.

This is not the first time that arson has targeted the company Remorquage Météor. “The information gathered so far tends to show that these fires are linked to a sharing of towing territories on the island of Montreal,” the SPVM said in a press release.

On April 10, a suspect also entered the company’s property by cutting the fence. In November 2021, four tow trucks belonging to Remorquage Météor were also set on fire in two separate events.

The police investigation is continuing to identify the various suspects involved in this series of arson attacks. Anyone with information can contact 911 or their neighborhood station. It is also possible to communicate anonymously and confidentially with Info-Crime Montreal at 514 393-1133 or their website.
