The idea on paper was nevertheless very good. Spend the Christmas holidays in the snow, far from the family. Here in the Alpes-Maritimes, there are possibilities: several stations Valberg, Isola 2000, La Colmiane and Auron obviously. Only, the Covid-19 ruined everything.
In his ski rental shop in Auron, Mathéo unfortunately does not have to deal with many customers : “It’s very quiet. There aren’t many people. We had a lot of cancellations because of the covid, almost 70%. A lot of customers have caught the virus to be precise”. The young man is a little disillusioned: “I’ve been working here every winter for 10 years so it’s obviously weird. The station is empty, it’s not necessarily easy”.
In the resort of Auron, it is mainly Azureans who come to ski for the day. “They miss a lot of English. They don’t have the right to come this year so obviously it makes a hole”, notes Véronique, a resident of the village.
