After years of work, the oldest pyramid in the world is once again open to the public. More than 4,600 years old, the king’s tomb Djoser might have some final secrets to share.
The king’s tomb Djoser is not the most famous pyramid in Egypt, but remains a true symbol in the history of the world. “One wonders how, with the means of the time, they were able to achieve such a marvel”, enthuses Claude Baltayan, a tourist guide who has surveyed the monument for thirty years.
Over four millennia ago, the architect Imhotep would have erected a succession of six layers of stone, to connect the soul of the late king Djoser to the heavens. “The architect made a pyramid that has stood for 4,600 years. It is the first monument in stone of humanity “, the guide marvels. The pyramid continues to fascinate photographers and tourists alike. “It’s very impressive, you feel very small when you think that it was built so long ago and that it is still there”, testifies a Spanish-speaking tourist.
