It is nicknamed the green jewel. Ba Be Lake, north of Hanoi, is one of Vietnam’s treasures. Bordered by forests and spectacular caves, it still attracts a reasonable number of tourists.

It is a still unknown destination, nestled in the heart of the Calvary reliefs of northern Vietnam. Lake Ba Bethe largest in the country, is a 600-hectare expanse of emerald water, bordered by rice paddies and primary forests. Far from the tourist circuits, its waters offer a still virgin natural setting to the few curious ones who venture there.

Thousand-year-old caves

The richness of the lake is also due to its environment, and in particular to its many thousand-year-old caves, hidden in the heart of the jungle. In the darkness, we discover a maze of stalagmites, and a dizzying noise: that of bats. There are lots of different animals that live here in the park. We have monkeys gibbonpangolins”says Duke Hey Nguyen, tour guide. The ecosystem of Ba Be is among the richest in the country. Its waters are home to a hundred different fish.
