He will be the dean of his team. At 39, Tourangeau Cyril Lemoine is one of the eight riders selected to form the B&B Hotels-KTM team for the Tour de France 2022. He will be at the start in Copenhagen on Friday July 1, for its eighth Grande Boucle.
The list of eight riders was announced on Monday, the day after the French championships during which Cyril Lemoine stood out by participating in the breakaway, resumed about thirty kilometers from the finish. An offensive attitude that we should again observe on the Tour de France. “As step hunters, ambitious and faithful to their DNA, the Men in Glaz will play the spoilsports” the group said in a statement. The sports manager Didier Rous reveals the objectives. “We will be there to aim for the stages, on the plains as well as on more uneven ground (…) we have built a homogeneous group, capable of showing its solidarity on the curbs or the cobblestones and of playing the mavericks on the stages which will smile at the escapees.”
The group leaves room for novices, with three riders who have never participated in the Tour de France. The Orléanais Pierre Rolland, 13 participations, will take on the role of “leader” alongside Franck Bonnamour. As for Cyril Lemoine, the most experienced of the band after Pierre Rolland, he will play the mentors for the neophytes. With, certainly, enthusiasm to spare, he who had to give up in the first stage of the Tour de France 2021, victim of a fall.
