The 4th stage of the Tour de France women 2022, Wednesday July 27, is 100% Aube with a departure from Troyes, the city prefecture, and an arrival in Bar-sur-Aube. On the program: 126 km, a second course considered “hilly” before arriving in Lorraine the next day.
The difficulties will start in the middle of the stage and will increase as the peloton approaches the finish. From kilometer 68, the slopes follow one another, with a view of the vineyards. The runners will pedal on the “white paths”, sectors covered with chalk on the Champagne hills. For the race director, Marion Rousse: “These unpaved areas will be much more generous than those that the Men’s Tour had recently offered on the Glières plateau and at the top of La Planche des Belles filles”.
Cyclo-cross specialists could be advantaged – Valérie Demey
Belgian and Dutch runners Valérie Demey and Sabrina Stultiens tested the white paths for Le TFFF. Possible advantage to female cyclo-cross riders estimates the first. Climbers as well as regulars of the classics could find their account notice the second.
In total, the women’s Tour de France takes place over eight stages, from July 24 to 31, for a total of 1,029 km of racing. The route will cross three regions (Île-de-France, Grand Est and Bourgogne-France-Comté) and 11 departments. Four flat stages, two hilly stages and two mountain stages with an altitude finish at La Super Planche des Belles Filles.
Twenty-four teams, including five French, have been selected for this first edition.
