The Tour de France marked a break on Monday July 11. The evening before, all the participants were tested for Covid-19, after the abandonment of three runners declared positive. Update on the results with Jules Lonchampt, live from Thonon-les-Bains.

Antigenic tests, compulsory on the Tour de France, were carried out on Sunday July 10, on the 165 runners in the competition. “[Ils] turned out to be negative, the International Cycling Union said this morning in a summary press release, but experienced as a deliverance by the peloton.says journalist Jules Longchampt, live from Thonon-les-Bains (Haute-Savoie)

The runners indeed all fear a wave of contamination. “Over the past two days, three Covid-positive runners have been forced to retire, including Frenchman Guillaume Martin”, recalls the journalist. Several teams will continue to test their runners daily, as a precaution, says Jules Longchampt. The most grueling stages of the Tour will begin on Tuesday July 12, in the Alps.
