A crazy end. For his entry into the running at Roland-Garros, the little darling of the Parisian public still delighted. On the Suzanne Lenglen court of the tournament, the Toulousain Hugo Gaston stirred up the crowds by winning his duel against the Australian Alex de Minaur, 20th player in the world, during the first round of the Roland-Garros tournament. Victory in five sets (4-6, 6-2, 6-3, 0-6, 6-6) after a super tie-break at the end of the fifth set won 10-6 by the 21-year-old player.

After winning the third set, Hugo Gaston suffered in the fourth act, leaving it to Alex de Minaur. A white set for the Toulousain who chained 3 shutouts in the fifth set, before going up and overturning the match, while raising the public of Roland-Garros. The little prince is back?
Hugo Gaston had done sensation at Roland-Garros in 2020. First, by being the only French present in the third round, then by eliminating the Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka, then 17th in the world. He then lost in the round of 16 against the Austrian Dominic Thiem, then world number 3.
At the Paris-Bercy tournament at the end of 2021, the Toulousain once again created a sensation, after several comebacks, by climbing to the quarter-finals, against Russian Daniil Medvedev, number 2 in the world. He bows with honor after a two-hour battle (6-7, 4-6). At the end of this tournament, he took 36 places at the ATP, allowing him to join the Top 100 for the first time.
