Three years later, Toulouse rediscovers the taste of a European final. Victorious at home in the Champions Cup semi-finals (38-26) against Harlequins, Sunday May 5, the Haut-Garonnais will face their best enemies Leinster again, in London, on May 25, to dream of a sixth European star. This Irish team has, over the last two seasons, defeated Toulouse each time in the semi-final, before losing to Rochelais in the final.
Leading by 19 points at the break, including a double from Antoine Dupont, Romain Ntamack’s teammates played to scare each other after returning from the locker room, displaying major defensive generosity, which allowed the English to score two quick tries to reduce their deficit to five points.
The yellow card addressed a quarter of an hour before the end to hooker Jack Walker, for an illegal clearance on Antoine Dupont, marked the end of the Anglo-Saxon ambitions, the Toulouse residents taking the opportunity to get back on the scoreboard in the stride, thanks to Juan Cruz Mallia.
