The RCT never really recovered from its initial defeat against Exeter (18-19), conceded at the last second of the match while leading 18-5 at half-time. Facing Glasgow, the Var club suffered a fourth defeat in a row (29-5) in the Champions Cup on Friday January 19, and therefore found itself eliminated from the competition.
Coming with good intentions, the RCT tried to bring danger offensively, but failed to crack the Scottish defense in the first 40 minutes. Conversely, the Warriors took advantage of the opposing defensive generosity to go twice, thanks to Kyle Rowe (21st, 5-0) and Huw Jones (30th, 12-0). Bad news never comes alone, the French club lost Gabin Villière to injury (33rd).
Open house operation
Again after the break, where the open day in defense – in addition to a faulty area of the touchline – allowed Glasgow to get the offensive bonus point thanks to three new tries from Josh McKay (19-5 , 59th), Huw Jones (24-5, 63rd) and Kyle Rowe (29-5, 80th+2). MSour consolation, Gaël Dréan scored his first try in the competition (12-5, 47th) for the RCT. Largely insufficient to go further in the Champions Cup. The Warriors, for their part, will see the round of 16, with two successes in four matches, against the two French clubs in the group (Bayonne and the RCT).
