Good news for motorists’ wallets. TotalEnergies will maintain the price cap on all its fuels at 1.99 euros per liter for the whole of 2024. The announcement was made on Wednesday October 18 by the Minister of the Economy on RTL. Bruno Le Maire, who spoke with the CEO of the hydrocarbon giant, Patrick Pouyanné, “welcomes this commitment because it is real protection”.

If fuel prices have been falling for three weeks, should we fear that they will start to rise again with the crisis in the Middle East? “Everything will depend on what happens, replied the minister. If the crisis remains local, the consequences will be local. Today, we see, the consequences are limited. If tomorrow you have an extension of the conflict in the region, you will naturally have much more serious consequences, in particular on energy prices.”
