Tory candidate who allegedly chases motorists posts videos of young drivers

The Conservative candidate for St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Dominick Melnitzky, replied on Friday, on his Facebook page, to the young people who accuse him of chasing them in the car because of the noise and the speed.

Contacted by telephone by our journalist last Tuesday, Mr. Melnitzky declared that everything was settled, before ending the conversation.

The candidate and other citizens of the rue du Biat, in particular, have posted images captured by surveillance cameras where we can see cars driving in front of their residences.

“Normal? 4 times like that and flushing the engine. Note that the stops are well done, ”wrote the candidate in a Facebook post.

“Speeding in our neighborhood is a scourge that has been described for a long time,” wrote another resident. The streets of Biat and Comeau are two streets crowded with children, summer and winter, who criss-cross the district. The authorities do not seem to listen to the needs and the cries of the heart of the citizens. (…) Mr. Melnitzky is a citizen who tries to advance the files for the safety of our toddlers.”

The plaintiffs, who prefer to remain anonymous to avoid, they say, further trouble with Dominick Melnitzky, consider that the candidate had behaved aggressively and inappropriately towards them. They claim to have contacted the police, who intervened.

Young drivers circulated, until very recently, in front of the candidate’s residence to meet, on a regular basis, a friend who lives in the same neighborhood.

“Supposedly we were driving too fast, and making too much noise, but we were driving the limits, then we hardly weighed on the accelerator,” explained one of the young people.
