Impressive images in Marseille and Cassis on Wednesday evening. Torrents of water and mud again in coastal towns of the Bouches-du-Rhône with the second salvo of thunderstorms. On social networks, the videos are spectacular.
Rivers in the heart of Cassis
On these videos, we can see real rivers in the streets of Cassis, already flooded on Wednesday morning. “In an hour the city overflowed, testifies on franceinfo Yohan Amsallem, baker in Cassis. The two entrances leading to the bakery were like torrents. It’s like when you go rafting, you put a canoe on except there are no rocks.”

In Marseille, the Prado under water
In Marseille, the streets were flooded again on Wednesday evening. More than 65mm of water fell in 24 hours, “the storm of the year” according to weather expert Paul Marquis. Seven motorists who got out of their vehicles had to be rescued by Marseille firefighters, trapped in the 10th arrondissement. In this same district, 71 people had to be evacuated from a restaurant because of the floods.
