Toronto | Ukrainian dancers in The Nutcracker to help their country

(Toronto) A Ukrainian dancing duo who have toured the world to raise money to help their home country are ready to perform a Christmas classic.

According to the Toronto International Ballet Theatre, principal dancers Vladyslav Romashchenko and Olga Posternak will take the stage in the Queen City next month for a one-night performance of Nutcracker.

Romashchenko and Posternak have performed at charity shows in Europe, Japan and the United States since leaving Ukraine last April.

The married couple are said to have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in Ukrainian humanitarian aid and have been continuing their efforts since moving to Toronto.

Their interpretation of Nutcracker will be presented at Meridian Hall on December 17, with choreography by Ukrainian artistic director Tatiana Stepanova.
