Toronto | Three adults killed in shooting

(Toronto) Three adults were killed in the lobby of a north Toronto office building Monday after police received reports of gunfire in an area near a school and daycare.

Investigators said they were called to the area of Don Mills and Mallard Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. and found three people injured. They later publicly confirmed the deaths around 5 p.m.

An independent Catholic primary school was placed on lockdown due to the investigation and a daycare was evacuated late in the afternoon.

Relieved parents hugged their children after being reunited outside the police cordon.

Earlier in the afternoon, a supervisor had informed parents that everyone inside the school was safe.

Police said Toronto Transit Commission buses were used to shelter the children while they waited for their parents or guardians to pick them up.

A large police presence occupied the area for much of the afternoon.
