The star of Toronto Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) will take the reins as host of the televised celebration of Canadian music on May 15.
This is a second high-profile hosting opportunity for the actor who was revealed on the show. Kim’s Conveniencewho hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live last November.
The Junos will be historic in their own way as this will be the first time the awards ceremony will take place outdoors.
Organizers have booked the outdoor Budweiser stage in Toronto to alleviate some of the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past two years, the Junos have seen their events postponed and rearranged several times as local health restrictions prevent large gatherings.
The Budweiser Stage, located on the grounds of Ontario Place, is a seasonal covered outdoor venue that can accommodate up to 16,000 spectators.
The Juno Awards will announce this year’s nominees on 1er March and organizers said tickets for the ceremony will go on sale March 4.
The evening will be broadcast on CBC and simultaneously on the CBC Gem platform.
