Toronto Raptors | Siakam will play his first match on Sunday

(Toronto) Forward Pascal Siakam will play his first game with the Toronto Raptors in 2021 on Sunday when the Brooklyn Nets visit.

Head coach Nick Nurse broke the news following his players’ training session on Saturday.

Incidentally, Nurse said he had not yet determined how many minutes Siakam would play, whether he would start the game or be employed in a substitute role.

The Raptors all-star has been sidelined so far following shoulder surgery, performed during the offseason.

Ahead of Friday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Nurse said Siakam’s return to the game was imminent, but would likely take place next week.

Siakam took part in contact training sessions this week, and Nurse had noted that the healing process was moving a little faster than originally planned.

The Raptors (6-4) had won five straight games before losing 102-101 to the Cavaliers on Friday.

Last season with the Raptors, Siakam recorded 21.4 points per game and collected 7.2 rebounds per game.
