(Mississauga) A police officer in the greater Toronto area has reportedly been killed and a suspect is in custody following two separate shootings that occurred Monday afternoon in the greater metropolitan area.

Peel Regional Police spokeswoman Heather Cannon said two people were shot in Mississauga, and one was taken to a trauma center.
But multiple sources told The Canadian Press that it was a police officer who was killed in Mississauga.
Separately, Halton Regional Police, which serves the suburb of Milton, said one person was confirmed dead and two others were taken to hospital.
Halton Regional Police said they have arrested a suspect believed to be the person involved in the Mississauga shooting.
Peel Regional Police had issued an alert earlier Monday afternoon, warning the public that an “armed and dangerous” suspect was driving a stolen Jeep Cherokee.
