Jonathan Osorio delivered Toronto FC in the 89th minute with the equalizer to earn his side a 2-2 draw against DC United on Saturday at Audi Field.
The ‘Reds’ have had very little success on the opposing courts this season, with no wins, and everything seemed to point to a fifth loss in seven meetings on the road, until the Ontario team organized a counterattack with stoppage time.
Jordan Perruzza came down the left flank and took a shot that goalkeeper Bill Hamid couldn’t control. The return landed on the foot of Osorio, who was able to score into a wide-open net.
DC United had taken the lead in the seventh minute when Michael Estrada found Edison Flores perfectly on the edge of the goal. After Ayo Akinola equalized before halftime, Estrada put the Washington representatives back in the driver’s seat by pushing a ball past Alex Bono at close range.
Toronto thus ends a series of five defeats, which began on April 24, when New York City FC defeated Bob Bradley’s men by a score of 5 to 4.
