(Toronto) John Gruden is the new head coach of the Toronto Marlies.
He succeeds Greg Moore.
Moore and his assistants AJ MacLean and John Snowden were let go in May after the Marlies were swept in the first round of the American Hockey League playoffs.
Gruden becomes the eighth head coach in franchise history.
The 53-year-old American was an assistant coach with the Boston Bruins last season.
Gruden was also an assistant coach with the New York Islanders and head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs and Flynt Firebirds of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OHL).
