(Toronto) The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled goaltender Joseph Woll from his conditioning stay with their American League farm club, the Toronto Marlies.
Woll stopped 36 of the 37 shots he faced in the Marlies’ 4-1 victory over the Laval Rocket on Friday.
It was the 25-year-old goalkeeper’s first match since suffering a severe ankle sprain on December 7. Woll then had an 8-5-1 record, a 2.80 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage.
The Leafs have solidified their situation in net, as starter Ilya Samsonov is coming off six straight starts and nine of his last 11 since he was placed on waivers on 1er last January. Martin Jones, meanwhile, has won seven of his 11 matches since being called up to replace Woll.
Jones will have to go on waivers if the Leafs plan to return him to the American League.
The Leafs will host the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday.
