Toronto Maple Leafs | Acquisition of defender Conor Timmins to palliate injuries

(Toronto) The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenseman Conor Timmins from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for forward Curtis Douglas.

Timmins, 24, has three assists in six games with the Tucson Roadrunners this season in the American Hockey League. He also participated in two meetings of the Coyotes.

The Maple Leafs needed help on defense after losing the services of three regulars. Jake Muzzin (neck) and Morgan Rielly (knee) are on the long-term injured list, while TJ Brodie is sidelined with an oblique muscle injury.

Defensemen Mac Hollowell and Victor Mete were recalled from the American Hockey League by the Maple Leafs earlier this week.

Timmins, who hails from Thorold, Ont., has four goals and 30 assists in 52 career American Hockey League games.

He has no goals to his name, but has seven assists in 41 NHL games with the Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche.

Timmins was selected by the Avalanche in the second round, 32e in total, in the 2017 NHL Draft.

For his part, Douglas was a fourth round pick of the Dallas Stars in 2018. He had 39 points in 91 career games in the American Hockey League.
