(Toronto) The Toronto Police Service announced that a suspect died of his injuries after being shot by officers responding to an emergency call at a residence in the city’s east end on Saturday after -midday.

According to information transmitted by spokesperson Stephanie Sayer, a call was received concerning a woman stabbed in a residence.
When patrol officers arrived at the scene, the suspect was still present in the house and a child was also there.
During the intervention, the police opened fire on the suspect. The child was not injured.
According to the police, the woman suffered serious stab wounds. She was hospitalized and her condition is considered stable.
An investigation has been opened by the Special Investigations Unit, the civilian police oversight agency.
