(Toronto) Scott Dixon won the Toronto Indy for the fourth time in his career.

Colton Herta was second fastest on the Toronto Fairgrounds road course. Felix Rosenqvist climbed on the third step of the podium.
Dixon now finds himself tied with the legendary Mario Andretti for the most wins total in IndyCar history at 52. AJ Foyt is the all-time leader with 67 wins.
Torontonian Devlin DeFrancesco, a rookie on the IndyCar circuit, finished in 18e rung. Ontarian Dalton Kellett completed nine laps before a mechanical problem put an end to his race.
The two Canadians were participating in the Toronto Indy for the first time, when the event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kellett’s single-seater started to smoke very early in the race, which forced him back into the pits. After his team had worked on the car, the announcement of its retirement was made.
Alexander Rossi was pushed against the wall by Rosenqvist during the 45e turn and he smashed his car. Although this incident caused a yellow flag to be issued – and the majority of drivers took the opportunity to return to the pits – Rosenqvist was not penalised.
Dixon was the leader at the time of Rossi’s accident and he led the way back into the pits. Rinus VeeKay did not follow the example and he kept the controls of the race until he had to change tires.
Jimmie Johnson and rookie Kyle Kirkwood made contact at 58e lap and they ended their run. Johnson started spinning into Kirkwood’s line, which forced the rookie to hook him into the side of his car.
Although Herta took the lead in qualifying on Saturday, Dixon led for the majority of the race. At the end of the race, you could hear Herta’s strategist asking him to try a maneuver if the opportunity presented itself, but rather to keep his concentration to save fuel.
That opportunity never came for Herta and Dixon held on to lead more than 20 of the final laps of the race.
Dixon has won at least one event in an 18e consecutive season, but he had not won in his last 23 races before Sunday’s race in Toronto.
