Toronto FC 1 – CF Montreal 2 | The magic of the cut

It hasn’t been pretty. It has not always been in the rules of the art. However, that’s a bit of the magic of the Canadian Championship.

It is thanks to this journey in the Cup that CF Montreal revived and since then it hasn’t stopped. The Montrealers took the measure of Toronto FC 2-1, Tuesday night at BMO Field in order to obtain their pass for the semi-finals of the Canadian Championship.

By the same token, it is a fifth consecutive victory for the Bleu-blanc-noir. A sequence in which he allowed only one goal and scored 10.

The refereeing was questionable at times, especially on a shot by Mathieu Choinière which was blocked by the hand of an opposing defender. This, however, does not do justice to the chaos of the Cup.

The Torontonians sent their best roster, including prestigious Italian wingers Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi. The CFM preferred to make some changes and gave point guard Bryce Duke and designated player Victor Wanyama a night off.

Notably, central defender Rudy Camacho played as a defensive midfielder alongside Choinière and the pair got the better of their rivals. Chinonso Offor was able to score, as was right-back Zachary Brault-Guillard.

In the semi-finals of the Canadian Championship, the CFM will cross swords with Forge FC, the defending champions of the Canadian Premier League. The duel will take place between May 23 and 25.

CFM and TFC will face off again on Saturday, this time in MLS.
