Canada’s most wanted man who heads a list of the country’s 25 biggest criminals has been arrested hours after it was made public.
Targeted by a Canada-wide arrest warrant, Abilaziz Mohamed was arrested Tuesday evening, while the Toronto Police Service had identified him a few hours earlier at the top of the 25 most wanted fugitives.
“Congratulation to @TPSHomicide for the arrest of murder suspect A. Mohamed on April 26, 2022. Within 12 hours of the launch of Bolo Top 25,” the BOLO program posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
The suspect is charged with the murder of Craig MacDonald, a 43-year-old father of five, who was shot and killed in a business parking lot in Toronto’s Scarborough neighborhood in October 2021.
A reward of $250,000 was promised in exchange for information that could lead to his arrest, according to the wanted notice issued under the national BOLO program, whose list of wanted fugitives includes two Quebecers.
Anonymous information received by Toronto police on Tuesday evening allowed the location of the great fugitive, before proceeding to his arrest
“Yesterday, Abilaziz Mohamed was the most wanted suspect in the country; today, he is being held in the custody of the Toronto Police Service,” Toronto Police Chief James Ramer said in a statement.
