Toronto Blue Jays | Gunner Alek Manoah’s season reportedly over

Toronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah received numerous injections in his arm in recent weeks and as a result his season would be over, we learned in a text published on the internet Thursday.


Manoah, who was the Jays’ starting pitcher in the season opener but struggled for most of the season, hasn’t pitched since Aug. 10. He was assigned to Buffalo’s AAA farm club the next day.

In a text published on the Sportsnet network site, it is reported that Manoah has visited numerous specialists over the past month and that he continues to consult doctors “with a view to ruling out elbow and shoulder problems as well as thoracic outlet syndrome.

The injections aim to reduce inflammation and discomfort, it was specified in the text.

A message left with Manoah’s agent has yet to be returned. The club confirmed that Sportsnet’s text was accurate.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider was scheduled to meet with members of the media about the matter before Thursday night’s game against the Yankees in New York.
