The Toronto Art Biennale (TBA) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Dominique Fontaine and Miguel A. López as curators for the third edition of the TBA, which will take place in 2024.
Based in Montreal, Dominique Fontaine is an independent curator with a degree in visual arts and arts administration from the University of Ottawa. She is interested in artistic subjects related to postcolonialism. She has signed many commissions. The most recent is that of the expo Sovereign imaginaries, currently presented at the Maison de la culture Janine-Sutto and at the Hugues Charbonneau gallery. With the works of fifteen artists of Haitian origin, including Esther Calixte-Bea, Clovis-Alexandre Desvarieux, Stanley February, Patrick F. Henry, Manuel Mathieu, Michaëlle Sergile and Pascal Smarth. She was co-curator of Underground Art 2022 and is a co-initiator of the Black Curators Forum.

The other curator, Miguel A. López, is a writer and researcher. Her curatorial practice focuses on the role of art in politics and public life, collective work, dynamics of collaboration, and queer and feminist perspectives on rewriting history. The 3e Toronto Art Biennale will take place from September 21 to 1er December 2024. Launched in 2019, the event attracted a total of 450,526 visitors for the first two editions.
