Tornado warning in Outaouais; severe thunderstorm warnings in several other regions

Severe thunderstorm alerts and watches are in effect in several regions of Quebec this Monday afternoon.

A tornado warning was even issued for the sectors of Gatineau, the Papineau-Labelle reserve and the Lièvre river in the Outaouais.

The sectors of Lachute-Saint-Jérôme, Mont-Tremblant-Sainte-Agathe and Sainte-Adèle-Saint-Sauveur in the Laurentians are targeted by severe thunderstorm alerts.

An alert was also issued for the Vaudreuil sector in Montérégie.

According to Environment Canada, these thunderstorms can produce strong gusts, heavy rain or hail that can reach the size of a nickel.

The ministry also warns that severe thunderstorms can sometimes produce tornadoes and advises people to stay indoors.

In addition, severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for the greater Montreal area, certain sectors of Lanaudière (Berthierville-Saint-Gabriel, Mascouche, Rawdon-Joliette), the Richelieu-Saint-Hyacinthe valley (Lacolle, Saint -Hyacinthe-Acton-Vale, Saint-Jean-Marieville, Sorel-Yamaska, Verchères-Beloeil) and in Pontiac in Outaouais.
