Éloÿse Paquet Poisson was lying topless in the park of the Jean-Paul-L’Allier garden when five police officers approached them, first asking her to cover up, which she refused. The police then admitted that she was not doing anything illegal, but that they wanted to make sure she was not doing “anything sexual” since bystanders had made complaints. In the wake of this incident, two demonstrations will be held in Montreal and Quebec on June 19 on the theme “Free the breasts”.
Since the beginning of creation, man has always been tempted by the “forbidden fruit”. Any hidden body part becomes a coveted object. So it is with breasts. As for the parents who are scandalized to attend a topless scene claiming that the children will be traumatized, I rather have the impression that they are the ones who are attacked in their modesty.
However, nothing in the Criminal Code prohibits women from going topless in public. What the law prohibits is committing so-called “indecent” actions… So, it’s better to get used to seeing bare breasts… And probably the scene will become “normal” and the complainers won’t focus on it anymore careful with time.
