The Belgian duo had aroused great interest from their first release, in 2019, a dazzling electro-house mini-album called Zandoli. Here he is back with a first full album that can be summed up in its title: Topical Dancer, the “news dancer”. Once again, Adigéry and Pupul put their flair for the good grooves electronics at the service of a reflection, delivered in French and in English, on society – its relationship to feminism and racism, mainly – with as much activism as caustic humor, an approach that is reminiscent of that, a bit more techno, by Marie Davidson. Now, between a touching Ich Mwen which addresses motherhood with the participation of Charlotte’s mother, an electro-pop sweetness Reappropriate on the subject of asserting one’s sexuality, and a dance floor bomb titled It Hit Me about men’s gaze on women, the duo sometimes goes astray by forcing the encounter between impeccable rhythms and sluggish comments, as is the case on Esperanto and This is not a cliche.
