Top 14 – UBB: Christophe Urios ousted according to L’Equipe

A great vagueness surrounded the Union Bordeaux-Bègles since last Wednesday and the announcement by our colleagues from the South West
of a possible early departure of Christophe Urios. After an interview with him on Monday, the president therefore decided to separate from his manager with immediate effect while the club is currently 11th in the Top 14 after ten days. According to our information, Christophe Urios was not aware of the presidential decision on Monday evening.

A departure that will be expensive

Beyond the average results while the team remains on two consecutive Top 14 semi-finals, relations between the two men had deteriorated. Frying on the line also between the manager and his locker room, especially since the end of last season.

The Union will now have to negotiate the departure of Christophe Urios who was under contract until 2025. According to the team
the club should pay a sum of around 1.2 million euros.

The former Castrais should be replaced by another hooker, Yannick Bru, whom Laurent Marti met recently but who is under contract with the South African Sharks franchise. It therefore remains to be seen whether he will arrive immediately in Gironde or whether an internal solution will be chosen until the end of the season.
