Tony Vairelles, former star of the Blues, sentenced to prison for violence with a weapon

It was a case that caused a stir when it broke out in the fall of 2011. At the exit of a nightclub in the suburbs of Nancy. Accompanied by his three brothers, Fabrice, Jimmy and Giovan, the former football star Tony Vairelles finds himself in a very violent brawl. After a quarrel with the bouncers of the establishment, the situation escalates and the evening gets out of hand. The former Blues striker and his brothers allegedly fired several times at the bouncers of Quatres-As, located in Essey-lès-Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle).

A case dating back more than 10 years now and judged by the Nancy prosecutor’s office, which delivered its verdict on Monday morning, after a highly publicized trial which took place last March. The public prosecutor, François Pérain had requested very heavy sentences against the four brothers and obviously the prosecution followed since Tony Vairelles receives 5 years in prison, two of which are suspended for violence with a weapon, which means that the former idol of RC Lens, now 49, will have to spend three years behind bars!

The four brothers sentenced to prison

His brothers were also convicted in this case. Fabrice was also sentenced to 3 years in prison.while Jimmy and Giovan were sentenced to 3 years in prison, two of which were suspended. However, one of the lawyers of Tony Vairelles and his brothers had declared to AFP that he believed that the story was too vague for us to be able to designate a culprit. “There is great confusion about what could have happened, the doubt must benefit everyone”insisted Me Frédéric Berna.

After more than ten years of proceedings and four different investigating judges, justice has therefore rendered its verdict and found guilty Tony Vairelles and his three brothers, who will have to serve a long prison sentence.
