Tony Staffieri appointed permanent CEO of Rogers

(Toronto) Rogers Communications has appointed Tony Staffieri Permanent President and CEO, effective immediately.

Mr Staffieri had been interim CEO since Nov. 16, when Rogers announced that its board had begun a process to find a permanent CEO.

Chairman of the Board, Edward Rogers, said the appointment places the company in a strong position as it prepares for the integration of Shaw Communications in the first half of 2022.

Former CFO Tony Staffieri replaces Joe Natale, who left the company in November amid a family feud between Edward Rogers, his mother and two sisters, who are also members of the board of directors.

A British Columbia Supreme Court judge ultimately sided with Edward Rogers to replace five directors who had defied his efforts to unilaterally make changes to the company.

Rogers said the board has “complete confidence in Tony’s ability to lead Rogers as we move forward.”

“I remain focused on creating shareholder value with improved execution and completion of the Shaw transaction to create a strong organization focused on delivering exceptional customer service and the best networks in Canada,” said Mr. Staffieri in a press release.
