Tony DeAngelo agrees to one-year deal with Hurricanes

(Raleigh) Ten days after being released by the Philadelphia Flyers, defenseman Tony DeAngelo agreed to a one-year contract with the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.

He will receive a salary of 1.675 million.

The 27-year-old American will be on his second stint with the Hurricanes. He played the 2021-2022 season with Rod Brind’Amour’s club, scoring 10 goals and 51 points in 64 games.

Traded to the Flyers last summer, DeAngelo signed a two-year, $10 million pact. However, he was left out by John Tortorella for the last five games of the season. General manager Daniel Brière then bought out his contract.

DeAngelo has 45 goals and 199 points in 340 NHL games.

He added one goal and 11 points in 17 playoff games.
