Three divisions separate them. Versailles, leader of its National 2 group, travels to Nice, third in Ligue 1, on Tuesday March 1 in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. An unbalanced match on paper, but the Versaillese are used to defying the odds. In the round of 16, Youssef Chibi’s players had already been unable to receive and had to travel to Toulouse, overthrowing the Ligue 2 leader against all odds.

But Nice is also used to cutting heads in the Coupe de France. Christophe Galtier’s players quickly eliminated Paris on penalties and Marseille on a river score (4-1). Good performances which contrast with their recent difficulties in the league and their defeats against Clermont and Lyon. If they win, the Niçois will return to the Coupe de France final for the first time since 1997.
