In Trévières, in Normandy, citizens were called to vote to fill six positions on the municipal council. This election was made necessary by a wave of resignations.
However, when counting, officials discovered that many voters had placed all kinds of objects in the ballot box rather than their ballot.
Envelopes containing mail, a five euro bill and even toilet paper were found in the ballot box. Some ballot papers containing insults were also cast there.
Assessment of this unusual count: 85 of the 210 ballots had to be canceled. In total, 699 citizens were registered on the electoral roll.
With only 125 votes that could be counted, the municipality therefore annulled the result of this vote. Voters will have to return to the polls on December 12.
