After the first snowfall which complicated traffic on the roads, the cold will intensify Thursday in several sectors, including in southern Quebec.
Temperatures will hover around the freezing point for the maximum with a very biting wind chill for the western sectors of the province such as the Outaouais and Abitibi where a feeling of -15 degrees is expected in the morning.
In Greater Montreal, the weather will generally be cloudy and windy with gusts of 40 km/h, making temperatures colder, especially for the northern crown sectors, according to Environment Canada forecasts.
Despite a dense white carpet accumulated the day before, light snow will persist in the center of the province with accumulations of 5 centimeters for the regions of Quebec and Saguenay, where the cold will be persistent.
Eastern Quebec is affected by a winter storm warning, while the federal agency predicts sometimes heavy snow showers with accumulations of 20 centimeters in places and blowing snow for the morning.
“This snow will be accompanied by strong northeast winds, which will cause reduced visibilities in blowing snow for places exposed to these winds,” said the federal agency, adding that the rapid accumulation of snow could make travel difficult.
