Today’s percussion, born in prehistoric times, and musical note scales

One of the most recent instruments in Serge Bulot’s collection, which he presents as part of his concert exhibitions, is only 3 years old… Born from the tradition of metallic melodic drums, this instrument is still evolving, according to the experiments of the musicians. Regarding musical notes, the pentatonic scale, a musical scale made up of five notes, could be the first used. This scale is found today in a large number of musical cultures; blues, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll… Does that ring a bell? Well yes, rock was born thanks to the bases of the music imagined and created by prehistoric man…

Professional musician on many instruments, Serge Bulot collected a large collection of these objects during his many travels around the world. For 22 years, he has organized exhibitions-concerts around the world (from Lebanon to the United States), as he has just done in Coulaures. Serge Bulot hopes in the future, thanks to his knowledge of the original instruments, to be able to continue his adventures with the museums devoted to prehistory in the Dordogne.
