Léon Deffontaines, head of the list of the French Communist Party (PCF) in the European elections, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Friday May 31.
As the European elections on June 9 approach, the head of the Socialist Party-Public Square list Raphaël Glucksmann is leading the race in the polls with regard to left-wing parties. “I especially observe a left which is an orphan”, notes Léon Deffontaines in “4 Vérités”, Friday May 31. The head of the list of the French Communist Party (PCF) in the European elections affirms that“today, some are resigned to voting for Raphaël Glucksmann but do not do it out of conviction”.
“The left is captive of two political offers: one liberal, the other outrageous“, explains Léon Deffontaines, who “wish to write a new page” with a left which “puts back the social, the defense of workers” at the center of the debates and which “is not sectarian”. He believes that the Nupes “showed its limit in 2022” during the legislative elections. “We did not win the election. Why? Because we based this election on the election of Jean-Luc Mélenchon as Prime Minister. Today, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is a foil”tackles the head of the PCF list for the Europeans.
