Bears end five-game losing streak

(Detroit) – Cairo Santos put in a 28-yard field goal in the last second and the Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions 16-14 on Thursday.

“It was important this week to believe in each other on the team,” said Santos. Hopefully it can revive us. ”

The Bears (4-7) ended a five-game losing streak, in a context where Matt Nagy could be in danger of losing his head coach job, according to reports.

“We’ve had some distractions the last few days,” Nagy said. (This victory), it shows all the character of the guys in this locker room. ”

The Lions (0-10-1) made several mistakes and played a 15e match away without winning.

They haven’t won a game for almost a year in Chicago.

For the Bears, Andy Dalton replaced injured rookie quarterback Justin Fields.

He orchestrated a 69-yard run in 18 games that took the last eight and a half minutes of the game.

Dalton passed a 13-yard pass to Damiere Byrd on a third down and five yards.

Followed a five-yard penalty to the Lions, who called timeouts with no play between the two requests.

On the next play, a third down and four yards, Dalton joined Byrd for seven yards.

Dalton later put his knee to the ground with a second on the dial, paving the way for Santos’ third-and victorious-placement.

Dalton had 317 aerial yards. He completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Graham late in the second quarter.

Jared Goff returned to the game after missing a game with an oblique injury.

He had 171 passing yards, two of which led to touchdowns.

One of the paying passes went to Josh Reynolds for 39 yards, on the Lions’ first climb.

The other was 17 yards to TJ Hockenson late in the third quarter – that gave the Lions a 14-13 priority.

Amani Oruwariye intercepted a Dalton pass in the end zone late in the second quarter.

The Lions received 10 penalties.

“A second down and 25 yards or a third down and 32 yards, it really narrows down the play selection,” said Lions coach Dan Campbell.

Fields injured his ribs on Sunday in a loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Bears will receive the Cards from Arizona on December 5th.

As for the Lions, they will welcome the Minnesota Vikings on the same day.
