The event: MC Solaar and Eddy de Pretto

France is sending us this Friday two men of their word, at the crossroads of rap and song, who will play in parallel in the evening. First of all, it is impossible to ignore the expected return of rapper MC Solaar, whose albums Who sows the wind reaps the tempo (1991) and prose fight (1994) defined and propelled Franco rap. The versifier, whose last concert in Montreal dates back to… 1998, will offer classics and novelties interspersed with a big band jazz. It takes place at 8 p.m. in Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier at Place des Arts. At 9 p.m., on the side of MTelus, it’s the young sensation – and beast of the stage – Eddy de Pretto who will showcase his pen and his quickdraw “to all the bastards”, title of his second album, released last year .

Jay Scott

Discovery: Jay Scott

Jay Scott alone would be worth finding a satisfactory translation of the expression “Do it yourself”. By dint of folk-pop songs deposited on Spotify, YouTube, Patreon and other online platforms, the autodidact has built a loyal and growing audience. But it’s the song Copilot, reworked with FouKi and QuietMike, which propelled the character of Jérémie (Jay) to the FM airwaves and into the ears of the general public. As a bonus: a first album under the fold of 7e Sky. The title of his concert, His first major extraat the Maisonneuve Theater at 8 p.m., testifies to the semi-seriousness with which Scott approaches his brand new celebrity.
