TO SEE: CH scores a very strange goal

The Canadiens scored one of the weirdest goals of the season tonight to take a 2-0 lead against the Lightning in the second period.

It all started when Montreal goalie Samuel Montembeault held the puck for a few moments before giving it to his teammate Johnathan Kovacevic. The Lightning players, goaltender Jonas Johansson included, believed that the referee had whistled a stoppage of play while Montembeault kept the puck.

However, this was not the case. And while the Lightning players and goaltender quietly retreated towards the bench, Kovacevic scored into an abandoned net.

The referees reviewed the sequence and determined that the goal was indeed good, raising the ire of Lightning fans for several minutes.
