Attracted by the city, certain villages no longer know how to keep their inhabitants. The small town of Parlan (Cantal) seems to have found a solution, since it has even doubled its population in fifteen years. To attract new residents, it lowers the price of its land.
In Parlan, a small village in Cantal, the laughter of children will resonate for many years. The school has 41 students, an increase of nine in fifteen years. “School brings life to small villages so it’s great”, enthuses a mother. The proximity to the school has particularly motivated new residents to come and settle. This town, away from the main roads, has managed to double its population thanks to a real estate boost.
Sell off the land
Land under construction belonging to the town hall is being sold off, with a price of 5 euros for 1,000 square meters. An unexpected gift for Vivien, a 22-year-old caregiver who will move into her new house in six months, built on land estimated at 35,000 euros, which was practically given to her. In return, each newcomer must commit to staying ten years in Parlan. Of around fifty families welcomed since 2008, only four of them have left.
