The trial of Nordahl Lelandais opened this Monday morning before the Assize Court of Isère. He admitted having “killed” little Maëlys in August 2017 when she was 9 years old, and “apologized”.

“Apologizing is the first step of humanity that we could expect”, estimated Monday January 31 on franceinfo Yves Crespin, lawyer for the associations L’Enfant bleu and La Voix de l’enfant, civil parties in the trial of Nordahl Lelandais which opened Monday morning before the Court of Assizes of the Isere. Nordahl Lelandais then admitted having “killed” to little Maëlys in August 2017 when she was 9 years old, and “apologized”.

“The presentation of apologies is the least of the things that can be expected”added the lawyer. “Good that he did it, but it does not change the trial and the fate of the victims.” Yves Crespin adds that beyond these apologies, he expects Nordahl Lelandais to be able to prove that he has “a part of humanity”.

“I want him to show that he is not a monster”continues the lawyer. “I want him to explain to us how he came to switch from a banal profile to that of a criminal child murderer, an abuser, a sexual predator.”
