Renewing your passport is sometimes a headache. In France, three months are necessary to obtain an appointment at the town hall. In order to reduce this delay, the State has announced the deployment of 500 new machines on the national territory.

The reasons for these bottlenecks
As summer approaches, demand is increasing sharply in most equipped municipalities. However, other factors also explain engorgement. “The strong demand is still due a little bit to the Covid. […] We have moved on to biometric identity cards and there is a very strong enthusiasm for this title. There is the Brexit which caused the need to have a passport to travel to Great Britain”, explains Stéphanie Adamoli, instructor agent at the town hall of Meyzieu. The State must deploy 500 new machines throughout France and aid of 4,000 euros per equipment may be granted to municipalities which would widen their appointment slots.
