Do you know the tiny houses? These tiny houses in French come to us from the United States. Since the summer of 2021, L’atelier Bercail, located in Coudray near Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne, has embarked on their construction. The first tiny house made in Mayenne was delivered in February. Laura Ravier, one of the three founders, presents this mini house on wheels.
“Our tiny houses are movable at will and they integrate all the comforts of a modern house and an ecological house, for example with dry toilets and in the management of biosourced, French and sustainable materials.“, details Laura Ravier. The first of the tiny houses built by L’atelier Bercail is 21 m2. “We can live together. There are families that live with four inside, with a couple and two children, for example“, assures Laura Ravier.
L’Angenois founded L’atelier Bercail with two other partners, Ferdinand Dewatin, builder and Adrien Soulier, in charge of design. She is an interior designer and has decided to change jobs. “We no longer really found meaning in our previous activities and we quickly rallied around the idea of entrepreneurship. It had to make sense. I had long wanted to promote a habitat that is more ecological. With Adrien and Ferdinand, we found ourselves on this idea and this desire to have an impact alongside other builders to promote in fact a form of light housing.“
The Mayenne company delivered its first tiny house in February. “Today we have several orders. I would say that 50% are requests for permanent housing, and the rest is rental. It takes around 80,000 euros for a new turnkey tiny house. Our clients are people in their fifties who want to get rid of their ordinary habitat, get rid of the superfluous to have less impact on the environment.”
