Little hope of medals for the Blues this evening
There aren’t many French players left to watch this evening, but there will still be hopes for medals. In wheelchair tennis doubles, Stéphane Houdet and Frédéric Cattanéo were defeated by the British world No. 1s, Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid in the quarter-finals. In athletics, there are a few French stars to watch, such as Dimitri Pavade in the long jump final. After his disappointment in the 400m, Timothée Adolphe will be in the semi-finals of the 100m, while Mandy François-Elie will compete in the heats over the same distance. Here is the full program for the day.
The road to medals for French paracycling
The morning of Wednesday, September 4 was eagerly awaited in the ranks of the French paracycling federation, and it did not disappoint. While the road time trial events were all scheduled one after the other in the streets of Clichy-sous-Bois, it was a veritable rain of medals that fell on the French team. After his title in the pursuit, Alexandre Léauté won gold again, his third medal, while a few minutes earlier, Heïdi Gaugain won a second silver medal. Silver medal also for Elie de Carvalho in the tandem, while Florian Jouanny had to settle for bronze, as did Dorian Foulon, who already won gold on the track. Kévin Le Cunff and Gatien Le Rousseau achieved a nice double in the C4 category, winning gold and silver, followed by the title of Thomas Peyroton-Dartet. An incredible result completed by the double of Mathieu Bosredon (gold) and Johan Quaile (silver) and the silver medal of Loïc Vergnaud.
Grimace soup for many French people
Many Tricolores saw their Paralympic journey come to an end this Wednesday. In para-dressage, no medals for Alexia Pittier and Vladimir Vinchon (Grade IV), who finished in 8th and 4th place. The same for Lisa Cez (Grade V), who finished in 17th place in her series. There was also a big disappointment in wheelchair fencing, with the eliminations of Clémence Delavoipière, Maxime Valet, Ludovic Lemoine, Brianna Vidé and Damien Tokatlian. In singles, Stéphane Houdet was eliminated from the wheelchair tennis tournament, while Lucas Créange left the table tennis tournament. He is not the only one in this case, since Maxime Thomas, Morgen Caillaud, Flora Vautier and Clément Berthier also fell. Even the bronze medal secured by Fabien Lamirault will have a bitter taste, since the Frenchman was eliminated in the semi-finals. On a sweeter note, Lucas Didier qualified for the semi-finals. In archery, Guillaume Toucoullet was taken out in the round of 16, while in swimming, Kylian Portal was a non-starter in the 100m freestyle final. In weightlifting, Axel Bourlon did not reverse the dynamic, not lifting a single bar in the bench press.
