And two for Tim Merlier! The Belgian took his second stage victory in this 2024 Giro, after winning the 18th stage, Thursday May 23, in Padua. In a quieter stage after three days in the mountains, the day was animated by several breakaway runners who gave in in the last kilometers of the race. Everything therefore came down to a massive sprint, in which we believed that Jonathan Milan was going to win his fourth victory. He was finally overtaken in the last few hundred meters by Tim Merlier.

In the general classification, nothing to report. Tadej Pogacar is still the leader with almost eight minutes ahead of all his pursuers. On Friday, the Slovenian could try to win a sixth time in this Giro, with a stage which will have three passes.
